The problem
Intervention: None evaluated; this is an observational study assessing prevalence and risk factors
Who it was tested with: 1,152 children aged 6–59 months in ten woredas across central and eastern Tigray, Ethiopia.
Experience from people who deliver programmes: stories, case studies and lessons learned. Valuable for understanding how and why, and for spotting what to test next, but not a measure of effect.
"We conducted a community-based cross-sectional study from March 1 to 31, 2025, in ten woredas across central and eastern Tigray. Using multistage probability proportional to size (PPS) cluster sampling, we enrolled 1,152 children aged 6–59 months." This is an observational assessment of prevalence and associations rather than an intervention evaluation, making it practitioner-level evidence of the problem rather than evidence of a solution.
Cross-sectional design cannot establish causation or temporal sequence. Limited to selected zones; may not represent all conflict-affected populations. No comparison group or baseline data for trend analysis.
