The problem
Intervention: None; this is an observational study examining the association between childhood motor skills and bullying victimization
Who it was tested with: 182 adults with diagnosed autism spectrum disorder (mean age 33 years, 48% female).
Experience from people who deliver programmes: stories, case studies and lessons learned. Valuable for understanding how and why, and for spotting what to test next, but not a measure of effect.
"In this cross-sectional study, 182 adults diagnosed with ASD completed a questionnaire on their recollection of bully victimization at different stages of life and their performance in physical education (PE), as a proxy for motor skills, and academic skills at age 12." This retrospective design with a single measurement point for independent variables limits causal inference, making it PRE_POST tier rather than experimental.
Retrospective cross-sectional design based on adult recall of childhood experiences; cannot establish causation; no objective measure of motor skills used; potential recall bias; limited ability to control for confounding variables
