The problem
Intervention: This is an observational study examining determinants; no intervention was evaluated
Who it was tested with: Children aged two years and below in Migori County, Kenya (n=92).
Experience from people who deliver programmes: stories, case studies and lessons learned. Valuable for understanding how and why, and for spotting what to test next, but not a measure of effect.
"This was a cross-sectional study design that sampled 92 children. Child's age and length were obtained. ENA for SMART software computed stunting indice based on Height-for-Age (HAZ) WHO Z-scores." The study measured stunting prevalence and its associations with demographic and economic factors using standardised anthropometric methods, but lacks the longitudinal or experimental design needed to establish causation.
Small sample size (92 children), cross-sectional design without comparison groups, and unexplained counterintuitive findings regarding paternal income limit causal inference and generalisability of results.
