The problem
Intervention: This is an observational study examining associations, not an intervention evaluation
Who it was tested with: 4,500 children from the Child and Adolescent Twin Study in Sweden, assessed for ASD and ADHD symptoms at ages 9-12 and followed to age 18.
Experience from people who deliver programmes: stories, case studies and lessons learned. Valuable for understanding how and why, and for spotting what to test next, but not a measure of effect.
"using a genetically informative, prospective design, we examined the association between ASD and ADHD in childhood and coercive sexual victimization up to age 18... we decomposed the observed associations into genetic and environmental parts." The study is longitudinal with genetic analysis of causes but remains observational and cannot prove causation or identify specific mechanisms of increased vulnerability.
This is an observational study that cannot establish whether NDDs cause increased victimization risk or whether other factors explain both. Single follow-up report of victimization at age 18 introduces potential recall bias. Non-significant findings in males limit generalizability.
