The problem
Intervention: This is an observational study examining the correlation between mother-child relationship quality and leisure participation; no intervention was tested
Who it was tested with: Children aged 7-17 years with cerebral palsy and their mothers (at least 25 years old), n=152, in Iran.
Experience from people who deliver programmes: stories, case studies and lessons learned. Valuable for understanding how and why, and for spotting what to test next, but not a measure of effect.
"This study is a descriptive and correlational research...The children filled the King's assessment of participation and enjoyment questionnaire, whereas the mothers responded to a survey of Roth's mother-child relationship evaluation." This is an observational study measuring associations between two variables without testing an intervention or establishing causal mechanisms.
Correlational design cannot establish causation or rule out confounding variables; cross-sectional design cannot determine temporal relationships; no intervention was implemented or tested
