Intervention: National implementation of ROTAVIN rotavirus vaccination program for children across Vietnam
Who it was tested with: Children under five years in Vietnam across 10 birth cohorts (2026-2036).
Experience from people who deliver programmes: stories, case studies and lessons learned. Valuable for understanding how and why, and for spotting what to test next, but not a measure of effect.
"We used a transparent static cohort model with a granular weekly age structure (< 5 years) to project rotavirus gastroenteritis (RVGE) cases, visits, hospitalizations, and deaths in children under five years, comparing no vaccination to nationwide vaccination with the domestic ROTAVIN vaccine over 10 years starting in 2026." This modeling study provides evidence of projected effectiveness and cost-effectiveness of a rotavirus vaccination intervention, though findings are based on mathematical projections rather than direct empirical observation.
Model-based projections rather than empirical evaluation data; results dependent on input assumptions about vaccine effectiveness, disease incidence, and costs; does not capture implementation challenges or real-world factors affecting vaccine uptake and coverage.
