The problem
Intervention: Routine childhood immunization according to the Turkish National Immunization Program
Who it was tested with: 545 children aged 1-18 years with chronic neurological and neurodevelopmental disorders (cerebral palsy, autism spectrum disorder, Down syndrome, and others) followed at a tertiary pediatric neurology center in Istanbul.
Experience from people who deliver programmes: stories, case studies and lessons learned. Valuable for understanding how and why, and for spotting what to test next, but not a measure of effect.
"This prospective cross-sectional study included 545 children aged 1-18 years with chronic neurological and neurodevelopmental disorders evaluated between September and November 2025. Immunization status according to the Turkish National Immunization Program was classified as fully vaccinated, partially vaccinated, or not vaccinated." The study measured immunization outcomes in a vulnerable population but lacks a comparison group or intervention testing, making it observational rather than experimental evidence.
Single-center study in Istanbul with cross-sectional design; cannot establish causation or identify specific barriers to vaccination; does not include reasons for parental vaccine hesitancy or clinical contraindications that may have been legitimate.
