The problem
Intervention: maternal education and knowledge of immunisation programmes
Who it was tested with: Children aged 12-48 months and their mothers in Iran.
Experience from people who deliver programmes: stories, case studies and lessons learned. Valuable for understanding how and why, and for spotting what to test next, but not a measure of effect.
"a logistic regression model is used" to analyse binary outcomes (complete vs incomplete immunisation), examining associations between maternal education and vaccination status using nationally representative survey data from Iran's DHS-VI. The design captures correlations at a population level but cannot isolate the causal effect of education from other associated factors.
Cross-sectional design cannot determine causality. No comparison group or counterfactual. Association between maternal education and vaccination could reflect unmeasured confounding variables such as healthcare access or health literacy beyond formal schooling.
