The problem
Intervention: Nutrition education programs and health counseling to improve maternal knowledge
Who it was tested with: Mothers with toddlers in Indonesia.
Experience from people who deliver programmes: stories, case studies and lessons learned. Valuable for understanding how and why, and for spotting what to test next, but not a measure of effect.
"Data analysis was performed using univariate analysis to describe frequency distributions, and bivariate analysis using the chi-square test with a 95% confidence level." The study measured associations between maternal knowledge and stunting incidence, supporting an evidence base for the proposed intervention of nutrition education, though the cross-sectional design cannot confirm that improving maternal knowledge causes stunting reduction.
Cross-sectional design cannot establish causality. Small sample size of 73. Does not measure other important stunting risk factors such as household income, sanitation, or infection rates.
