The problem
Intervention: Not evaluated; this is an observational study examining associations between hazardous child labour and health outcomes
Who it was tested with: 23,409 children aged 5-17 in Tanzania, nationally representative sample.
Experience from people who deliver programmes: stories, case studies and lessons learned. Valuable for understanding how and why, and for spotting what to test next, but not a measure of effect.
"It uses the most recent nationally representative data from Tanzania with 23,409 children aged 5 to 17. In the analysis, we use OLS methods." This is an observational study examining associations between hazardous labour and health, not an intervention evaluation, and the cross-sectional design with OLS analysis cannot establish causal effects.
Cross-sectional design prevents causal inference. Uses OLS regression which is not appropriate for establishing whether hazardous labour causes health problems versus whether unhealthy children are selected into hazardous work. Relies on self-reported outcomes.
