The problem
Intervention: ANZANSI program combining family economic empowerment intervention and multiple family group family strengthening intervention
Who it was tested with: Adolescent girls and their caregivers from Northern region of Ghana at risk of unaccompanied migration for labor.
Experience from people who deliver programmes: stories, case studies and lessons learned. Valuable for understanding how and why, and for spotting what to test next, but not a measure of effect.
"We conducted semi-structured interviews separately with 20 adolescent girls and their caregivers who participated in ANZANSI... Informed by the theoretical framework of acceptability, the data were analyzed using thematic analysis." The study assessed acceptability and perceived effectiveness through participant interviews but did not measure actual behavioral outcomes or compare participants to a control group.
This is a small qualitative acceptability study without a comparison group or measurement of actual migration outcomes, so it cannot determine whether the intervention actually prevents migration. Findings reflect only participants' perceptions of effectiveness rather than demonstrated impact.
