The problem
Intervention: Economic empowerment combined with multiple family group-based family strengthening, delivered over 12 months; also tested separately as individual interventions
Who it was tested with: 900 Ugandan children aged 10-14 years in mid-upper primary schools.
Children or communities are compared with a group that did not receive the intervention, or followed over years. This is the design that best separates what the intervention did from everything else that changed.
"The study uses an experimental, longitudinal design across 30 cluster-randomized primary schools to compare single and combination intervention options; influences of economic empowerment and family strengthening on economic, perceptual, and functioning mediators; and context-specific moderators." This is a rigorous randomized controlled trial design with comparison groups and longitudinal follow-up, but as a protocol document it describes only the planned methodology without results.
No results are available from this protocol document; the actual outcomes of the intervention cannot be assessed
