The problem
Intervention: Build Our Kids' Success (BOKS) program: 12-week school-based program with nine core physical activities (running, burpees, jumping jacks) and nutrition education led by trained physical education teachers
Who it was tested with: 382 primary school students (132 urban Jakarta, 250 rural East Nusa Tenggara), Indonesia.
The same group is measured before the intervention and again afterwards, with a baseline and an endline and sometimes a midline. Change is visible, but other causes cannot be ruled out.
"Data were collected pre- and post-intervention using adapted standardized instruments. Paired t-tests were conducted to determine significant changes." The study measured the same children before and after the program intervention but lacked a comparison group to attribute effects solely to the BOKS program.
No comparison or control group to isolate program effects. Single post-measurement at 12 weeks does not assess sustainability. No details provided on implementation fidelity, adherence rates, or potential confounding factors.
