The problem
Intervention: BNT162b2 mRNA COVID-19 vaccination
Who it was tested with: Children aged 5 to 11 years in Germany, 179 with comorbidities and 614 healthy children.
The same group is measured before the intervention and again afterwards, with a baseline and an endline and sometimes a midline. Change is visible, but other causes cannot be ruled out.
"In this prospective, multicentre, industry-independent cohort study, caregivers whose children received BNT162b2 were asked to participate in an online questionnaire. Potential side effects were evaluated in ten organ related categories." This is a cohort study measuring reported symptoms after vaccination with no control group, making it a pre-post design.
Self-reported questionnaire data without clinical verification; no comparison group with unvaccinated children; symptom reporting may reflect parental health awareness rather than actual physiological differences; cross-sectional snapshot at single timepoint rather than longitudinal follow-up.
