Parental sensitivity and nurturance are important mechanisms for establishing biological, emotional, and social functioning in childhood. Sensitive, nurturing care is most critical during the first three years of life, when attachment relationships form and parental care shapes foundational neural and physiological systems, with lifelong consequences. Sensitive, nurturing care also buffers children from the negative effects of growing up in difficult circumstances such as poverty.
Introduction: Objective: The infant’s skin is physiologically and functionally distinct from adult skin, making it vulnerable to infections and disorders. Topical formulations developed for infants require thorough ingredient screening to protect their underdeveloped skin barriers. This review explores the anatomy and physiology of infant skin, highlighting the essential requirements for its care, and evaluates baby skincare products, emphasizing the need for gentle, non-irritating, and microbiome-friendly ingredients. Methods: A thorough literature review was performed using data cited in PubMed, Scopus, and Web of Science up to March, 2025. Keywords included "infant skin physiology," "neonatal dermatology," "topical formulations for infants," and "cosmetic ingredient safety." Articles relating to studies proving the safety of ingredients used in infant products and market trends were included. Overall, 110 articles were selected based on relevance, quality, and publication date. Results: The review highlights significant differences between infant and adult skin in moisture levels, the skin barrier, and enzyme levels. Infant and baby skincare formulations, such as creams, oils, powders, etc., must include ingredients that prioritize the integrity of the infant skin barrier. Regulatory guidance emphasizes the use of mild, non-irritating, and non-sensitizing ingredients. Discussion: The review integrates infant skin characteristics with formulation science and ingredient safety considerations, offering practical guidance for designing gentle, non-irritating, age-appropriate topical formulations. Conclusion:: The vulnerable characteristics of infant skin require vigilance in ingredient selection and formulation development. Ongoing research and regulatory harmonization are essential to ensure both efficacy and long-term safety of infant topical products.

The focus of this research is on the important role of psychology in shaping the care and education of children with special needs. In parenting, family psychology and the personality of children with special needs prove themselves to be critical elements in creating a positive environment. On the educational side, developmental psychology for children with special needs guides educators in designing appropriate learning approaches, while inclusive education, with a focus on inclusive psychology, increases the accessibility and success of learning. Psychological challenges, such as stigma and emotional stress, faced by parents and educators are also highlighted. Psychological strategies such as counselling, group support, and training have proven effective in overcoming these challenges. In conclusion, this article highlights the importance of integrating psychology in the context of care and education of children with special needs to create an inclusive environment that supports the optimal development of these children

This dissertation aims to shift Nel Noddings’ ethic of care from theory to practice. Frustration was selected for the emotion and art was chosen for a communication platform for the purposes of this research. Neil Harrington’s Frustration Discomfort Scale (FDS) survey was used to gauge root causes of frustration intolerance. The focus group, art session, and interview questions were selected to gain qualitative data of adolescent frustration intolerance for the FDS results. Six seventh graders participated in the entire study which included participating in a focus group, one art-making session or interview, a 24-hour observation, and a 7-day follow-up journaling experience. A research journal was also completed for reflection and to help form the subjective I statement. There were three findings presented in the research. First, the study indicated that FDS results can align and help explain adolescent behavior. Secondly, art and other environmental conditions provided social and emotional affordances to adolescents. Third, community organizations can inform how schools can integrate social and emotional skills into educational culture. Based on the data analysis, the first recommendation of this study is that school- community relationships and purposes be more integrated. The second recommendation is that the FDS survey should be implemented in middle school advisory programs.
Child protection system is a planning, implementation, evaluation, and accountability unit. Since children are the nation's future generation, it is appropriate for a smart country to constantly attempt to safeguard its young generation from all possible dangers. A service van for women and children may help settle instances of child abuse. The Integrated Service Center for the Protection of Women and Children in Wajo Regency should devote more attention to child abuse via coaching, mentoring, and child protection. It is hoped that this will improve the safety of all children
The paper presents risk indicators for domestic violence against children, concerning both parents and children, as well as an analysis of data obtained from a sample of 46 competent police officers in Vojvodina with the aim of identifying these indicators. Eighty percent of respondents considered unfavourable parental behaviour to be the most frequent parental risk indicator for the occurrence of violence against children. Externalized behavioural problems in children were seen by 48% of respondents as a risk indicator in children that always appears and points to violence. The least common, or rarely occurring indicator, is the sexualized behaviour of the child (according to 63% of respondents), which is justified considering that sexual abuse of a child is also assessed as the rarest form of violence against children. About half of the respondents identified excessive reactions from the child when they make a mistake or are pointed out for a mistake as the most common indicator of psychological violence in child victims. Although the data analysis did not show statistically significant differences in the results concerning the possession of a certificate for working with minors, 61% of respondents believed that competent police officers should also possess this certificate. Since the respondents highlighted this need as the greatest systemic hindrance in the work of child protection, and since about half of the officers (22) in this sample did not possess this certificate, the authors emphasize the opinion that competent police officers, as well as other police officers, should be specially trained for working with minors.
BACKGROUND: Culturally competent healthcare improves patient satisfaction and clinical outcomes. Many drugs, dressings and implants have human or animal-derived content which may conflict with patients' religious beliefs, and may even have medicolegal implications. METHODS: This cross-sectional study (anonymous web-based survey) was done to understand the informed consent process followed by paediatricians and neonatologists in India, their views regarding disclosure pertaining to the animal origin of exogenous surfactants to patients' families, and their willingness and ability to provide alternative surfactants based on parental preferences. RESULTS: A total of 114 neonatologists/paediatricians involved in neonatal care and using surfactants in their practice responded to the survey. Although 61(53.5%) neonatal care units stocked two or more brands of surfactant in their inventory, only 38(33.3%) units had both bovine and porcine preparations. Most (104, 91.2%) of the doctors always take parental consent before administering surfactants; but only a few (12,10.5%) said they always inform parents about its animal origin. None of the respondents offer parents a choice between bovine or porcine-origin surfactants, most (73, 64%) presuming that it would be irrelevant for the parents. However, many respondents (27, 23.7%) mentioned that they want to offer the choice to parents but are unable to do so because they do not stock both bovine and porcine preparations. CONCLUSION: Although most parents might agree to a life-saving medicine in emergency situations, this does not mean they do not want to be informed. Healthcare professionals should not have a dismissive attitude to parental belief systems. They must use the antenatal period to take the cultural/spiritual history and the necessary consent.
Discourse, policy, and research on early childhood care and development have largely focused on parents—their roles, knowledge, and practices. Yet raising a child is inherently collective and intergenerational. Historical and evolving sociocultural contexts highlight the growing involvement of diverse “significant others” in nurturing young children. This study explores the childcare experiences of Filipino parents during their children’s early years, from infancy to preschool (0–4 years old). Drawing from 17 key informant interviews with Filipino parents, the study emphasizes the vital contributions of multiple caregivers—including siblings, grandparents, other relatives, yayas or kasambahays (domestic helpers), and community members such as daycare teachers and health workers—in shaping parenting practices and ensuring young children’s well-being. Using an inductive approach, the analysis interrogates institutionalized, parent-centric assumptions that dominate early childhood care and development discourse. The findings underscore the indispensable roles of these significant others in children’s early development and in everyday parenting practices.
