The problem
Intervention: HPV vaccination offered to eligible cancer survivors
Who it was tested with: 2,907 childhood, adolescent, and young adult cancer survivors treated at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, eligible for HPV vaccination since 2006.
Experience from people who deliver programmes: stories, case studies and lessons learned. Valuable for understanding how and why, and for spotting what to test next, but not a measure of effect.
"We performed descriptive statistics and evaluated associations using univariate and multivariable logistic regression analysis." The study describes vaccination coverage and identifies factors associated with lower uptake, demonstrating that current HPV vaccination practices are insufficient for protecting cancer survivors from HPV-related malignancies.
Observational design cannot establish causation. Single-centre study may not generalise. No data on reasons for non-vaccination or barriers to completion.
