The problem
Intervention: Conditional Cash Transfer programme under Nigeria's National Social Investment Programme
Who it was tested with: 380 beneficiaries of the CCT programme in selected Local Government Areas of Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria.
Experience from people who deliver programmes: stories, case studies and lessons learned. Valuable for understanding how and why, and for spotting what to test next, but not a measure of effect.
"The type of research in this study was descriptive survey." A one-time survey of beneficiaries without a comparison group or before-and-after measurement fits the lowest tier.
Single survey of beneficiaries with no comparison group or baseline, so causal claims are not possible. The data appear to be self-reported perceptions. The authors also state the programme achieved 'some level of improvement', which conflicts with the non-significant tests. Child-specific outcomes are not reported separately.
