The problem
Intervention: IAP-NURTURE capacity building workshops training paediatricians to incorporate nurturing care into office practice
Who it was tested with: 7,047 paediatricians across India trained through 200 workshops (2022-2024).
Experience from people who deliver programmes: stories, case studies and lessons learned. Valuable for understanding how and why, and for spotting what to test next, but not a measure of effect.
"Phase 2 focused on participants' training. In the quantitative component, workshop documents and online survey findings were reviewed. The qualitative component included in-depth interviews (IDIs) of trainees... Data integration indicates IAP NURTURE (NC-ECD) had a positive impact on the trainees: high satisfaction with training and resources provided; helpful in practice (skill enhancement, involving staff, using well-child visit schedule), and; receiving positive feedback from clientele." The study measured trainee responses before and after training as part of a systematic implementation evaluation, with self-reported outcomes showing positive changes in knowledge and perceived practice.
Short-term impact evaluation only; relies on self-reported satisfaction and trainee perceptions rather than objective measures of clinical practice change or child health outcomes; no control group for comparison; data collection varied across phases (58.9% pretests vs 36.8% post-tests retrieved)
