The problem
Intervention: Catch-up vaccination intervention involving collaboration with primary care pediatricians, active call sessions to parents, and organisation of extra vaccination sessions
Who it was tested with: Children from 2022-2023 birth cohorts in Bagheria health district, Palermo, Italy, whose parents were initially non-compliant with vaccination schedules.
The same group is measured before the intervention and again afterwards, with a baseline and an endline and sometimes a midline. Change is visible, but other causes cannot be ruled out.
"A cross-sectional study with a before-after component was conducted between June 2025 and December 2025, with the aim of evaluating the increase in vaccination coverage." The study measured the same population before and after the intervention without a comparison group, making it a pre-post design that showed the intervention was associated with improved coverage.
Self-reported survey data subject to bias; no control group to isolate intervention effect; unclear if increases were sustained beyond study period
