The problem
Intervention: COVID-19 vaccination and associated education/information
Who it was tested with: Lebanese adults aged 18 and older who were COVID-19-positive; 277 unvaccinated (cases) and 453 vaccinated (controls).
The same group is measured before the intervention and again afterwards, with a baseline and an endline and sometimes a midline. Change is visible, but other causes cannot be ruled out.
"Unmatched case-control study... conducted across all regions of Lebanon between July and October 2023" with "multivariable regression models" to identify associated factors. The comparison between vaccinated and non-vaccinated individuals with analysis of outcome measures allows for inference about factors associated with vaccination uptake and subsequent behaviour change, though the cross-sectional nature limits causal inference.
Study limited to COVID-19-positive individuals only; cannot determine causality or whether COVID-19 vaccination caused improved attitudes or if pre-existing attitudes led to vaccination uptake. The design does not allow assessment of whether the intervention itself (receiving a COVID-19 vaccine) led to behaviour change or if other factors drove both vaccination and adherence.
