The problem
Intervention: An entertainment-education short movie on the costs of child marriage, with a second version adding religious messages encouraging completion of education over child marriage
Who it was tested with: Adolescent girls and their parents in two provinces in Indonesia.
Children or communities are compared with a group that did not receive the intervention, or followed over years. This is the design that best separates what the intervention did from everything else that changed.
"We conducted a randomized control trial in two provinces in Indonesia using two different versions of the movie." This is a randomised design with comparison, so it is experimental, and the results differ by movie version and by outcome, so the direction is mixed.
The outcomes are perceptions rather than marriage behaviour. The abstract gives no numbers, sample sizes, or follow-up period, so it is unclear whether effects last.
