The problem
Intervention: Improved school environment, adequate learning resources, and school-based health and nutrition programmes for preschool children
Who it was tested with: Preschool children in Lagos State, Nigeria (data from 20 caregivers).
Experience from people who deliver programmes: stories, case studies and lessons learned. Valuable for understanding how and why, and for spotting what to test next, but not a measure of effect.
"Pupils who learn in supportive environments with adequate resources and good health conditions demonstrated better academic and social outcomes." This shows the study found positive associations between environmental, resource, and health factors and child learning outcomes, though the correlational design cannot establish that these factors caused the improvements.
Small sample size of 20 respondents limits generalizability. Cross-sectional design prevents causal inference. Outcome measures not clearly defined. No control group for comparison.
