The problem
Intervention: Community-based assessment of vaccination programme using cluster sampling and interview survey
Who it was tested with: Children aged 12-23 months in tribal Narmada district, Gujarat (346 children from 30 clusters).
Experience from people who deliver programmes: stories, case studies and lessons learned. Valuable for understanding how and why, and for spotting what to test next, but not a measure of effect.
"A community based cross-sectional study was done in tribal district Narmada in Gujarat for a period of four months from May 2011 to August 2011. The study population consisted of all children aged between 12-23 months. After using cluster sampling method, assessment of vaccination programme was obtained from 346 out of total 352 children scattered across 30 clusters." This describes a descriptive cross-sectional survey documenting current vaccination patterns without intervention or comparison group.
Cross-sectional design cannot determine causation. No comparison group. Data collected over 4 months in 2011. Recall bias possible as vaccination status assessed through interview rather than documented records.
