The problem
Intervention: Four-session digital sexual violence prevention education program covering digital sexual violence, digital citizenship education, and gender sensitivity
Who it was tested with: Fifth-grade students (ages approximately 10-11) from an elementary school in C City, South Korea; experimental group n=27, control group n=20.
Children or communities are compared with a group that did not receive the intervention, or followed over years. This is the design that best separates what the intervention did from everything else that changed.
"A quasi-experimental pre- and posttest design was employed to evaluate the effectiveness of the program. Two classes (n=27) were randomly assigned to the experimental group, and two classes (n=20) were assigned to the control group. The experimental group received one session per week for four weeks, whereas the control group received no intervention." This design includes a comparison group and pre-post measurement, meeting criteria for experimental evidence, though quasi-experimental rather than fully randomized.
Small sample size from a single school, quasi-experimental design without full randomization, four-week intervention period may be too short to measure behavioral change, and lack of follow-up assessment to determine sustainability of knowledge gains.
