The problem
Intervention: Increased parent-child interaction frequency, particularly in story-reading, environmental interaction, learning activities, and physical activity
Who it was tested with: 526 preschool children enrolled at baseline; 419 completed all three waves.
The same group is measured before the intervention and again afterwards, with a baseline and an endline and sometimes a midline. Change is visible, but other causes cannot be ruled out.
"we examined whether three-wave overall and content-domain trajectories, together with cumulative low-level exposure at the overall, content-domain, and activity levels, were associated with final-follow-up outcomes." The study tracked the same children across three time points measuring interaction patterns and their associations with later outcomes, making it a longitudinal observational design that can characterize temporal patterns but not test causal intervention effects.
Observational design without randomization or comparison group limits causal inference. Study measured association but cannot determine if low interaction causes difficulties or if other factors drive both. No intervention was tested; this is an observational study of naturally occurring exposure patterns.
