The problem
Intervention: Community-based nutrition education program using seminars, training, and mentoring for pregnant women, mothers with stunted children, health cadres, and community groups, teaching balanced nutrition principles and infant massage while respecting local food beliefs and economic circumstances
Who it was tested with: Pregnant women, mothers with stunted children (13 children across 7 RWs), health cadres, and PKK (community women's groups) in Bulak Village, Surabaya City, Indonesia.
Experience from people who deliver programmes: stories, case studies and lessons learned. Valuable for understanding how and why, and for spotting what to test next, but not a measure of effect.
"This activity method is carried out by means of seminars, training and assistance related to food counseling...the results after providing training and mentoring activities...the first health cadre and PKK is a change in a healthy diet, the second follows the recommendation of a balanced diet for pregnant women and breastfeeding mothers." The design represents a community-based intervention with training and mentoring but lacks measurement rigor, control comparison, or validated outcome assessment typical of higher-evidence research.
No quantitative outcome measures provided; no baseline data or comparison group; no follow-up data on stunting rates, child growth, or maternal health outcomes; self-reported changes in practice without verification; small scale (13 stunted children identified); unclear sustainability
