The problem
Intervention: Storytelling activities (traditional and digital) integrated with Gagné's nine events of instructional design, delivered over 3 weeks
Who it was tested with: 45 children aged 5-6 years in three classes at a public preschool in Indonesia.
Experience from people who deliver programmes: stories, case studies and lessons learned. Valuable for understanding how and why, and for spotting what to test next, but not a measure of effect.
"Three classes in a public preschool in Indonesia participated in an experimental study involving 45 children, aged 5–6 years. Across 3 weeks, one experimental condition received storytelling activities and a second experimental condition received digital storytelling activities. The control condition received regular literacy classroom activities. Before, and after, the 3-week storytelling intervention, measures of literacy and digital literacy skills were administered to all groups." This describes a randomised/quasi-experimental design with baseline and endline measurement and comparison groups, meeting experimental tier criteria.
Short intervention period (3 weeks), small sample size, single site, unclear whether baseline groups were equivalent, exploratory analyses for digital literacy outcomes lack specificity
