The problem
Intervention: Structured basic gymnastics education program delivered over eight weeks
Who it was tested with: 40 typically developing children aged 48-69 months in private early childhood education institutions in Çorum province, Türkiye.
Children or communities are compared with a group that did not receive the intervention, or followed over years. This is the design that best separates what the intervention did from everything else that changed.
"The experimental group (n = 20) participated in an eight-week structured basic gymnastics education program, whereas the control group (n = 20) continued with the regular preschool curriculum without additional intervention." This quasi-experimental design with pretest-posttest comparison allows attribution of observed differences to the intervention, though non-random assignment limits causal inference strength.
Quasi-experimental design with non-random group assignment based on existing classrooms; small sample size; eight-week intervention period provides no information about long-term effects; data collection relied on teacher reports and parent interviews which may be subject to bias.
