The problem
Intervention: Educational intervention on infant and child feeding practices and TB prevention for mothers of stunted children
Who it was tested with: 45 mothers with stunted children in Kosiwo Community Health Center's service area, Indonesia.
The same group is measured before the intervention and again afterwards, with a baseline and an endline and sometimes a midline. Change is visible, but other causes cannot be ruled out.
"The study utilized a one-group pretest-posttest design and was conducted in the Kosiwo Community Health Center's service area. A total of 45 participants were selected using a total sampling method. Data in this study were collected before and after the intervention using a validated and reliable questionnaire...The results were analyzed with the Paired T-Test." This is a pre-post design comparing the same group at two time points, lacking a comparison group needed for stronger causal inference.
No control group; cannot isolate the effect of education from other factors; cannot assess whether knowledge gains lead to improved child health outcomes; single community setting limits generalisability.
