Intervention: Health insurance coverage for maternal health services
Who it was tested with: Ever-married Pakistani women aged 15-49 years (n=7,752) from the 2017-2018 Demographic Health Survey.
Experience from people who deliver programmes: stories, case studies and lessons learned. Valuable for understanding how and why, and for spotting what to test next, but not a measure of effect.
"Logistic regression analyses were conducted, and results were reported as ORs with 95% CIs. Results of adjusted logistic regression models were fit to control for individual and community-level factors." The study measured maternal health service utilisation in a defined population and examined the association with health insurance coverage using multivariable analysis to adjust for confounding factors.
Cross-sectional design prevents causal inference; cannot determine direction of association or rule out reverse causality. Only 2.0% of the sample had health insurance, limiting generalisability. The study does not provide details on types of health insurance or coverage specifics.
