The problem
Intervention: Application of the Child Psychosis-Risk Screening System (CPSS) using the Child Behavior Checklist (CBCL) and clinical data from medical charts
Who it was tested with: 204 outpatients aged 6-14 years examined at pediatric or psychiatric clinics.
Experience from people who deliver programmes: stories, case studies and lessons learned. Valuable for understanding how and why, and for spotting what to test next, but not a measure of effect.
"We conducted an epidemiological study involving 204 outpatients between the ages of 6 and 14 years who had been examined at a pediatric or psychiatric clinic using the CBCL and clinical data from medical charts. Logistic regression analysis and T-tests were performed using each clinical data variable to clarify the risk of the CPSS." The study tested whether the screening tool could identify high-risk children, finding that environmental stressors mattered more than current diagnoses.
No comparison group or control condition; no long-term follow-up to validate predictions; no information on screening sensitivity or specificity; cross-sectional design cannot establish causation.
