The problem
Intervention: The Enfys Nurturing Attachments Group: a virtual group-based intervention providing attachment-focused parenting support to professionals and co-professionals during COVID-19
Who it was tested with: 140 professionals and co-professionals (e.g. foster carers, kinship carers) caring for traumatised children, with 51 completing pre- and post-measures.
Experience from people who deliver programmes: stories, case studies and lessons learned. Valuable for understanding how and why, and for spotting what to test next, but not a measure of effect.
"A pilot feasibility study evaluated eight bespoke groups. Consenting professionals and co-professionals completed the Brief Parental Self-Efficacy Scale (BFSS), Care Questionnaire (CQ) and the Parental Reflective Functioning Questionnaire (PRFQ)." The study used a before-after design to test whether a virtual intervention improved caregivers' self-efficacy and reflective functioning, but lacked a comparison group to establish causality.
Pilot feasibility study with low completion rate (36%), no control group, no longer-term follow-up data reported, and limited detail on drop-out reasons or participant characteristics
