Intervention: National Strategy to Accelerate Stunting Prevention (2018-2024) with emphasis on breastfeeding promotion, complementary feeding, and micronutrient supplementation
Who it was tested with: Children under five years old in East Nusa Tenggara, Indonesia.
Experience from people who deliver programmes: stories, case studies and lessons learned. Valuable for understanding how and why, and for spotting what to test next, but not a measure of effect.
"A cross-sectional approach was employed, integrating data from various sources, including the 2020 Census of Indonesia, the Global Data Lab-Area Database, the Central Bureau of Statistics Republic Indonesia, the National Socioeconomic Survey, the 2017 Indonesia Demographic and Health Survey, the 2018 Basic Health Research, and the 2021 Indonesia Nutrition Status Survey." The study uses modelling of existing national strategies rather than testing their actual effectiveness through implementation, making it a projection exercise based on assumed coverage scenarios.
This is a projection model, not an evaluation of actual programme implementation. Results depend on assumptions about coverage levels and intervention effectiveness. The modest projected decline in stunting prevalence suggests current strategies may be insufficient to achieve significant reductions without strengthened implementation.
