The problem
Intervention: Implementation of a standardised research design with survey questions about child welfare services' investigations of violence against children and intimate partner violence among parents
Who it was tested with: Seven child welfare services in Norway (136 surveys completed).
Experience from people who deliver programmes: stories, case studies and lessons learned. Valuable for understanding how and why, and for spotting what to test next, but not a measure of effect.
"The purpose of the present study was to test the feasibility of the research design and to pilot the main outcome variables." This is a pilot feasibility study designed to test whether a survey methodology could work in the Norwegian context, rather than evaluating the effectiveness of a specific child protection intervention.
This is a pilot study with a small sample of seven services; findings cannot be generalised. The study measures feasibility and identifies variables but does not evaluate effectiveness of interventions or outcomes for children.
