The problem
Intervention: SMS (text message) counselling delivered by trained counsellors at a child helpline
Who it was tested with: Children and youth using the Danish child helpline SMS service.
Experience from people who deliver programmes: stories, case studies and lessons learned. Valuable for understanding how and why, and for spotting what to test next, but not a measure of effect.
"Through a quantitative content analysis of 448 SMS sessions at the Danish child helpline, we studied counsellor behaviour and session impact." This is a pre-post design examining service users' well-being before and after a single counselling session, with analysis of factors associated with better outcomes.
Study measures immediate post-session well-being without follow-up; single helpline context limits generalizability; no comparison group with other intervention types; reliance on self-reported outcomes.
