The problem
Intervention: Provision of Harvest Lentil Vegetable Blend (nutrient-dense supplemental food) to children aged 6-59 months combined with nutrition education intervention to caregivers on child feeding and WASH practices
Who it was tested with: 162 children aged 6-59 months and 127 caregivers in Turkana, Kenya.
The same group is measured before the intervention and again afterwards, with a baseline and an endline and sometimes a midline. Change is visible, but other causes cannot be ruled out.
"Three-week pretest-posttest study" with "Children aged 6-59 months (n = 162) and their caregivers (n = 127) completed the intervention" measured at baseline and endpoint. This is a before-after design with a single group, lacking a comparison group to establish causality.
Very short intervention duration (three weeks) limits confidence in sustained impact. No control or comparison group means changes cannot be definitively attributed to the intervention rather than other factors. Caregiver-reported WASH practices may not reflect actual behaviour.
