The problem
Intervention: 18-month further training course for ECE teachers called 'Pedagogy of Early Childhood Education during Changing Practices' using a participatory action research approach
Who it was tested with: 32 early childhood education teachers in Finland.
Experience from people who deliver programmes: stories, case studies and lessons learned. Valuable for understanding how and why, and for spotting what to test next, but not a measure of effect.
"The research was carried out using a participatory action approach. The written data were collected from the teacher participants." The design involves teachers' self-reported interpretations of their professional development through participation in a structured training course, which represents practitioner-level evidence of professional learning.
Study is based on teachers' written self-interpretations rather than observed classroom practice changes or child outcomes. No comparison group. Single context in Finland.
