The problem
Intervention: A single bout of high cognitively demanding exercise or low cognitively demanding exercise, compared with an active control.
Who it was tested with: 26 elementary school children, mean age 11.8 years (SD 0.5), Taiwan (country hint).
Children or communities are compared with a group that did not receive the intervention, or followed over years. This is the design that best separates what the intervention did from everything else that changed.
"completed three exercise conditions in a randomized crossover design" - Every child experienced all conditions in random order, giving a comparison within the same children, so this is experimental.
Small sample, single-session acute effects only, and physical intensity higher than intended. Distributional analyses were exploratory.
