The problem
Intervention: Individualised nursing care based on Roy's Adaptation Model, delivered in weekly 45-minute sessions with parental participation over six weeks, with weekly telephone follow-up and seizure diary monitoring
Who it was tested with: One 8-year-old boy with recurrent epilepsy and his parents, in a pediatric ward in Iran.
Experience from people who deliver programmes: stories, case studies and lessons learned. Valuable for understanding how and why, and for spotting what to test next, but not a measure of effect.
"Given the single-case design, these observations should be interpreted descriptively rather than as evidence of a causal intervention effect." A single case study is practitioner-level evidence and cannot show whether the intervention worked.
Only one child, a short six-week follow-up, no comparison group, and no basis for causal claims or generalisation.
