The problem
Intervention: Health education for pregnant women using audio-visual media together with a booklet, compared with a booklet alone.
Who it was tested with: 60 pregnant women at the Letis Community Health Center, East Sumba Regency, Indonesia, selected by total sampling..
Children or communities are compared with a group that did not receive the intervention, or followed over years. This is the design that best separates what the intervention did from everything else that changed.
"This study used a quasi-experimental design with a two-group pretest-posttest design." This design includes a comparison group, so it fits the experimental tier.
Small sample (60) from one health centre; knowledge was measured by questionnaire only, with no behavioural or infant health outcomes; the added value of audio-visual media over the booklet is not stated; quasi-experimental, so non-random allocation may affect comparability.
