The problem
Intervention: Contezolid-containing multidrug antimycobacterial regimens combined with hematopoietic stem cell transplantation
Who it was tested with: Three infants aged 3–9.5 months with primary immunodeficiency in China (Wiskott–Aldrich syndrome, X-linked SCID, IL-12 receptor β1 deficiency).
Experience from people who deliver programmes: stories, case studies and lessons learned. Valuable for understanding how and why, and for spotting what to test next, but not a measure of effect.
"This retrospective case series aims to provide real-world experience on CZD use in this challenging population." This is a descriptive case series of three children without a comparison group, so it is practitioner-level evidence, and the authors state that efficacy cannot be attributed to contezolid alone.
Very small sample, retrospective design, no control group, and concurrent HSCT and multiple antimycobacterial drugs mean the independent effect of contezolid cannot be determined.
