The problem
Intervention: FamTAM Intervention - an aided language modeling training and coaching intervention designed to support caregiver implementation of AAC and prepare school-based speech language pathologists to provide family coaching
Who it was tested with: Speech language pathologists and family members/caregivers of children with complex communication needs.
Experience from people who deliver programmes: stories, case studies and lessons learned. Valuable for understanding how and why, and for spotting what to test next, but not a measure of effect.
"We describe the iterative development of the FamTAM Intervention-an aided language modeling training and coaching intervention designed to support caregiver implementation and their school-based speech language pathologists (SLPs) preparedness to provide family coaching. We also conducted interviews with participants to assess the clarity, feasibility, acceptability, and usability of the intervention." The study documents the development and refinement process through stakeholder input but does not evaluate whether the training improves outcomes for children with communication needs.
This is a development study without a comparison group or measurement of child-level outcomes. It assesses only stakeholder perceptions of the intervention's design rather than its effectiveness in improving communication outcomes for children.
