The problem
Intervention: Fostering positive parental attitudes and providing parental mental health support
Who it was tested with: 225 parents of school-aged children and adolescents with intellectual disability in Chile.
The same group is measured before the intervention and again afterwards, with a baseline and an endline and sometimes a midline. Change is visible, but other causes cannot be ruled out.
"Structural equation modelling and multigroup analysis were used to evaluate direct and moderated effects." This design allows examination of associations between variables but without experimental control or longitudinal follow-up, limiting inference about intervention effectiveness and causal pathways.
Cross-sectional design cannot establish causality. Study does not explore longitudinal pathways or additional contextual factors. Findings are specific to Chilean population and may not generalize to other contexts.
