The problem
Intervention: Practitioners and parents were supported to create diverse teaching media from recyclable materials and use them in literacy activities.
Who it was tested with: Early childhood practitioners and parents, and the children in their centres, in economically challenged communities in South Africa..
Experience from people who deliver programmes: stories, case studies and lessons learned. Valuable for understanding how and why, and for spotting what to test next, but not a measure of effect.
"Engagements with practitioners after the implementation stage indicate the following" shows the findings come from practitioner reports after the project, so this is a practitioner-level source and cannot confirm an effect on children's literacy.
Findings rest on practitioners' perceptions gathered after implementation. There is no comparison group, no baseline measurement and no reported measured literacy data, so the claimed improvement and its sustainability are not verified.
