The problem
Intervention: A structured two-day paediatric eye health and vision screening training programme combining theory-based instruction with supervised hands-on practice, delivered by ophthalmologists and optometrists
Who it was tested with: 264 full-time school teachers across 132 government schools in Skardu District, Gilgit-Baltistan, Pakistan.
The same group is measured before the intervention and again afterwards, with a baseline and an endline and sometimes a midline. Change is visible, but other causes cannot be ruled out.
"Knowledge was reassessed immediately after training, while attitude and practice were reassessed 2-3 weeks later, after school-based screening activities had begun." The study measured the same teachers before and after intervention with specific timepoints, but without a comparison group, cannot rule out other factors contributing to change.
No control group, short-term follow-up only (2-3 weeks), self-reported measures for attitude and practice which may not reflect actual sustained behaviour, and single-group design prevents attribution of causality
