The problem
Intervention: The study did not evaluate an intervention; it investigated the existing relationship between child labour and educational outcomes
Who it was tested with: 216 child labourers from three senatorial districts of Katsina State, Nigeria.
Experience from people who deliver programmes: stories, case studies and lessons learned. Valuable for understanding how and why, and for spotting what to test next, but not a measure of effect.
"Multi-stage sampling technique was used to select 216 child labourers from three senatorial districts of Katsina States. Structured interview schedule was used to collect data on respondents' socio-economic characteristics, involvement in child labour, causes and effect." The study describes the negative association between child labour and educational outcomes through respondent reports rather than experimental or quasi-experimental evidence.
This is an observational study without comparison group or intervention evaluation. It reports perceived effects rather than measured educational outcomes. Cross-sectional design prevents establishment of causation.
