The problem
Intervention: Early Positive Approaches to Support (E-PAtS), a group-based psychoeducational and support program for parents of children with developmental disabilities
Who it was tested with: Parents of young children with developmental disabilities in early stages of service use.
Experience from people who deliver programmes: stories, case studies and lessons learned. Valuable for understanding how and why, and for spotting what to test next, but not a measure of effect.
"We used semi-structured interviews and post-session measures to explore parents' perceptions of the adequacy program's goals, acceptability of its procedures, and its perceived effects." This qualitative design gathered practitioner and parent experiences but cannot establish whether improvements resulted from the intervention or would persist over time.
Study measured only parent perceptions without objective outcome measures or comparison group; does not establish causal impact or long-term effects
