Intervention: CENDANA module for midwives covering child violence prevention
Who it was tested with: 60 midwives in Indonesia, divided into intervention (n=30) and control (n=30) groups.
Children or communities are compared with a group that did not receive the intervention, or followed over years. This is the design that best separates what the intervention did from everything else that changed.
"Uses quantitative methods with descriptive design and pretest posttest with control group design...The intervention group was given a modules, and the control group was given leaflets. Data were analyzed using the Mann Whitney test." This represents a controlled experimental design comparing the module intervention directly against an alternative educational approach (leaflets), with statistical analysis to determine significance.
Study does not measure whether knowledge gains led to changed midwife practices or improved child protection outcomes. Small sample size and single-country context limit generalisability.
