The problem
Intervention: A structured training program consisting of 10 sessions (20 hours total) on violence against children and adolescents
Who it was tested with: 105 participants including undergraduate medical students, postgraduate medical students in pediatric residency, and working health professionals (89% women).
Children or communities are compared with a group that did not receive the intervention, or followed over years. This is the design that best separates what the intervention did from everything else that changed.
"This is a quasi-experimental study, of which design was based on the analysis of a non-equivalent Control Group (CG)... A training program on the topic, consisting of 10 sessions (20h in total), was developed and applied with an EG... To assess the effectiveness of the intervention, a questionnaire was applied at previously determined periods (pre-test and post-test)." The study compared an intervention group receiving training against a control group using pre- and post-test measurements, meeting the criteria for experimental design.
Study uses non-equivalent control group rather than randomization; does not measure whether improvements translate to actual behavioral changes in clinical practice or increased case reporting; limited follow-up data beyond immediate post-test.
