The problem
Intervention: The Gammarana Program: nutritional education and counseling provided by Village Nutrition Assistants (TPGD), including guidance on infant and child feeding, growth monitoring, and supplementary feeding
Who it was tested with: 2,148 families with children in 114 stunting-prone villages in South Sulawesi, Indonesia.
The same group is measured before the intervention and again afterwards, with a baseline and an endline and sometimes a midline. Change is visible, but other causes cannot be ruled out.
"A pretest-posttest design without a control group was used, involving 114 stunting-prone villages and 2,148 families. Over six months, TPGD provided education and counseling on infant and child feeding, growth monitoring, and supplementary feeding." This is a pre-post measurement design comparing the same population before and after the intervention, measuring real nutritional outcomes including stunting reduction.
No control group to compare changes against; cannot rule out confounding factors or secular trends. Time-limited to six months. Relies on self-reported feeding practices through interviews.
